TEHRAN -- Iran National Library and Archive Director (INLA), Ali-Akbar Ash’ari visited the Baku State University last week.
In today’s world, having a well-equipped library is one of the most important factors in raising the ranking of a university, since any improvements in the university library will lead directly to improvements in the academic environment, he said.“The State University of Azerbaijan will be benefiting from the web portal of ECO national libraries to increase its available resources”, he added.
Founded in 1919, the university has more than 18,000 students and the library studies faculty of the university was established 60 years ago, the head of the Baku State University Abel Maharramov mentioned during the event.
He went on to say that the university faces a shortage of software for forming a digital library, and that issue will be resolved by cooperation with the Iran National Library and Archive.
Ash’ari has been appointed as the general secretary of the National Library Directors Conference of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which is currently underway in Baku.
